Tinder Has Big Plans for Artificial Intelligence

Forget your grandmother’s advice. Tinder’s about ready to let robots play matchmaker.

During Wednesday morning’s earnings conference call for Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, CEO Greg Blatt spoke of the company’s interest in using artificial intelligence to help users find better matches.

“AI is just starting to scratch the surface, but we’re making a big investment in it,” Blatt said.

After just a few swipes, the company’s AI technology will get a sense of your dating preferences and be able to show you people ”who you’re interested in.” In addition, Tinder wants to use AI to recommend date spots based on shared interests. Features like these are “not quite rolled out in our recommendation engine yet, but will be soon,” he said.
