IAC Launches IAC Publishing

Wednesday, December 9, 2015 - 01:35

NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) announced the formation of IAC Publishing, a new digital media operating entity bringing together a collection of the web's most trusted brands to create a single digital publisher with a reach of more than 100 million monthly US users. Leading the new group, which includes established web brands such as,, Investopedia and The Daily Beast, is IAC Publishing CEO Doug Leeds, who previously led IAC-owned, as well as IAC's acquisition of many of these businesses.

"Our publishers are a diverse and trusted mix of informative content and premium news, with each focused squarely on the distinct needs of its audience," said Doug Leeds, CEO of IAC Publishing. "Federating these businesses into a single operating group means our world-class brands can remain agile and independent while benefiting from group-wide investments in data infrastructure, technology and emerging ad products."

The new combination promises to unlock value across all IAC Publishing brands. For example,, the web's largest source of expert content on the web, has built a team of content scientists with PhD's in areas such as computational linguistics, neuroscience and even astrophysics to understand how content across more than a thousand topics is consumed, shared and acted upon. The results of such analysis were applied to grow site engagement by more than 15 percent over the last year, and helped the team craft custom ad programs yielding an increase in premium sales by more than 30 percent year over year. Now such work can be more effectively extended, whether it's to Investopedia's expert financial content or's language and content library.

The combination will also put IAC in an unparalleled position to deliver the solutions demanded by today's online advertisers. As part of IAC Publishing, The Daily Beast, which has seen more than 20 percent organic growth year over year, can now scale the work of its industry-leading content marketing discipline BrandBeast, engaging new audiences and taking advantage of IAC Publishing's massive reach. Powered by a combination of proprietary behavioral data tools and world-class creative, BrandBeast is the force behind the highly effective content marketing campaigns for advertisers such as Land Rover, The Macallan, Fitbit, National Geographic Channel and Delta Air Lines.

"IAC has tremendous advantages in the digital media space: established and trusted brands, loyal audiences, enormous scale, incredible technology," said Joey Levin, CEO, IAC. "Unified as a single operating entity under Doug's leadership, we're able to deliver unprecedented consumer and advertiser value, and maximize our position in a market that continues to grow as billions of ad dollars move online."

In addition to its digital media brands, IAC Publishing will also house a labs division focused on accelerating growth for its portfolio of websites and incubating new digital publishing sites in emerging verticals. More details are available at
