IAC Widens Reach in Asia, Europe

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 03:00

HONG KONG – October 29, 2008 – Today IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) reaffirms its commitment to strategic international expansion with new business initiatives in Asia and Europe, designed to help give consumers around the world access to the online content, products and services offered by the IAC family of internet brands.

“Our ability to replicate the success of our existing brands on a global level will be determined by our knack for working within other countries from the inside out,” said Barry Diller, Chairman and CEO of IAC.  “By partnering with local entrepreneurs, developers, and businesses we can more effectively hone our existing expertise in ways that cater to the needs and demands of local markets.”

Building on current global operations, recent international initiatives include:

•    The launch of ServiceMagic Europe through the acquisition and investment in Travaux.com, the largest French website for consumer information and home improvements; 123Devis.com, a leading French lead generation platform; and 123GetAQuote.com, a leading UK lead generation platform;
•    The launch of a gaming developer initiative in Korea to encourage growth and foster innovation at InstantAction.com, IAC’s website for gamers that combines the intensity of console videogames with the accessibility of the web;
•    The acquisition of Girlsense in Israel to extend share of voice in IAC’s teen product portfolio; and
•    New product launches, feature enhancements and global partnerships at Match.com Japan… catapulting Match.com Japan into a leadership position in online dating in Japan.

By surveying opportunistic markets and key international audiences, IAC will continue to explore strategic partnerships, scout key developers and entrepreneurs and evaluate acquisition targets throughout Europe, Asia and other international destinations.

With over 168 million users in more than 37 countries around the world, recent and current international efforts from many of IAC’s more than 35 brands including Match.com, Ask.com, InstantAction and Evite reinforce IAC’s ability to monetize and distribute content across the web.  By leveraging this expertise, the goal moving forward is to accelerate growth internationally by expanding existing brands and exploring new opportunities which can bring new businesses into the fold.

“Our goal is simple… we want to create locally relevant consumer offerings,” said Jane Thompson, Managing Director, IAC International.  “By working with local talent, our strategy is to allow flexibility in order to build relevant brands, rather than simply directly replicate what works in the U.S.”

Already operating established and emerging brands that appeal to niche audiences around the world, continuing to grow its global user-base and expand market share is part of the natural evolution of IAC.
