Match.com Launches 'Match.com Advisors,' The Only Expert Advice Network To Be Offered By A Leading Online Dating Service

Tuesday, October 14, 2003 - 01:00

Online dating site Match.com today announced the launch of Match.com Advisors ( www.advisors.match.com ), a network of trained dating, relationship and marriage experts accessible through the Match.com site. Powered by Ingenio, Inc., Match.com Advisors allows users to engage in live, one-on-one advice sessions, custom-tailored to their individual needs, challenges and goals. Match.com is the only leading online dating service to provide access to a dating, relationship and marriage advisor network from its site. With Match.com Advisors, users can quickly and easily review a list of advisors, evaluate their credentials and areas of expertise, and contact the advice provider of their choice through a secure telephone call.

"Most of us can benefit now and then from advice and guidance as we navigate the different stages of dating and relationships, and sometimes it's just good to hear an objective perspective," said Trish McDermott, Vice President of Romance and resident dating expert at Match.com. "Relationships push our emotional buttons and ask us to invest in someone else by trusting, opening up to the possibilities of true intimacy and being willing to negotiate and compromise. These efforts provide potentially incredible rewards when we make good choices, do the required work and persevere."

Findings from October 2003 Research of 903 Match.com Members

   * 47% own one or more dating or relationship advice books
   * 84% indicate that at the least, they occasionally need professional
      dating advice
   * 18% indicate they need this advice "quite frequently"
   * 9% indicated they needed advice more than their partner did during the
course of their last romantic relationship, while 43% believe that
their romantic partners were the ones most in need of advice
   * 51% said they are likely to seek dating and relationship advice from a
      trained advisor
   * The question both men and women indicate they are most likely to ask a
dating advisor is: "What type of woman/man is truly right for me."
   * 33% indicate that if they could change one thing about the person they
date, they would change this person's dating and relationship
      expectations

"The launch of Match.com Advisors shows, once again, that Match.com is much more than just a 'personals' site. We continue to deepen our commitment to deliver a full range of features and services to help our members succeed in not only finding, but also forming and maintaining happy, healthy relationships," said Tim Sullivan, president of Match.com. "Match.com's continued investment in new features, services and technologies underscores the promise we make to our customers that we will be their advocates and lend expertise and support as they transition through dating and relationship stages."

To access Match.com Advisors, users log on to www.advisors.match.com and browse Match.com's exclusive list of trained advisors. Users can review each advisor's background and credentials, consumer rating, area of expertise, photograph and availability status. A simple click on the "Call Now" button alongside an advisor's professional profile sets up a private and secure phone call with that advisor that will ring at the phone number provided by the user. Match.com's dating and relationship advisors charge a per-minute fee ranging from $.65 per minute to $4.99 per minute, and users will receive $5 off of their first Match.com Advisors session.
