MatchLive.com Launches SpeedMatching.com With Plans To Roll Out In 60 Cities By The End Of The Year

Monday, October 13, 2003 - 01:00

MatchLive.com, Match.com's events service for singles, today announced the launch of SpeedMatching.com ( www.speedmatching.com ), a new site offering SpeedMatching events for singles across the United States and in London. SpeedMatching events will be open to Match.com members and non-members alike, although Match.com subscribers will receive discounted access to all SpeedMatching events.

To initiate the rollout of its new SpeedMatching events, MatchLive.com will host a launch party in New York City on Wednesday, October 15 featuring special guest host Alex Michel from the original season of ABC's "The Bachelor." The event, held at Lobby in midtown New York, starts at 6:30 pm. Advance tickets are available through www.matchlive.com .

"SpeedMatching is the hottest new way to date, and the kick-off event at Lobby will give singles a chance to meet several potential dates in one evening," said Alex Michel. "It's going to be a lot of fun."

At a SpeedMatching event, each person has a few minutes to engage in a quick, 'Get to know you' conversation with one other person, then rotates to the next table to meet someone new. On a score sheet, each person indicates whom they'd like to meet again. After the event, SpeedMatching.com will send an email to each attendee with the contact information for their matches.

"SpeedMatching.com is our latest effort to broaden the ways and the places that we connect people, both online and offline," said Tim Sullivan, president of Match.com. "Eventually our SpeedMatching events will utilize the dating information and criteria available in Match.com member profiles to create customized events where people will have a greater likelihood of finding the person they'd like to meet."

SpeedMatching, the most commonly requested event among Match.com and MatchLive.com members, is a quick and fun way to test for a connection and chemistry with numerous potential first dates, all in one evening. MatchLive.com expects to host more than 400 SpeedMatching events in more than 60 cities across the country, and internationally, by the end of the year.

MatchLive.com ( www.matchlive.com ), launched by Match.com in 2002, is a fun, unique and interactive events program for singles offering a wide variety of social events and parties where attendees can have a great time, while meeting other interesting people like themselves.
