Single Dads Are Sexy, According to 29 Percent of Single Women in Match.com Father's Day Survey

In honor of Father's Day, Match.com, a global leader in online dating, asked more than 3,000 single women for feedback on dating single dads. Twenty-nine percent of the women surveyed thought single dads were sexy dates, while 43% found their nurturing and supportive qualities made them great dates. Another 11% said single dads came across as intelligent, 9% said they were funny and 8% thought single dads were child-like.

"It's not at all surprising that single women find single dads sexy, or that women enjoy the nurturing and supportive qualities these men have to offer," said Trish McDermott, vice president of romance for Match.com. "After the events of September 11, we redefined our criteria for the people we admire-and desire-and ordinary, decent people who not only work hard and give a lot back, but also understand the value of family and personal relationships, are great catches these days."

With Father's Day only days away, the more than 800,000 single dads with profiles posted on Match.com will be happy to know that most women deem single fathers eligible romantic partners. Seventy-four percent of the women with profiles posted on Match.com indicate they are open to dating someone with children.

Analysis of the dating criteria of women using Match.com revealed that Arkansas tops the list for dating opportunity for single dads, with 82% of women indicating they are open to dating a single dad. Other states in which single dads were the most popular include Oklahoma and Maine, where 81% of Match.com's women say they will date a man with children. Single dads in the District of Columbia and New York may not fare as well in their romantic lives, as respectively only 64% and 66% of the site's female members from these states indicate they are open to dating a man with children.
